Social

At Tsurumi we recognise the importance of supporting and engaging with communities and social projects. We are involved in a wide range of initiatives from charitable foundations through to sports clubs which all contribute to improving health, fitness and mental health wellbeing.

Here are just some of the organisations we have teamed up with to help with their objectives and ambitions:

GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY

We consider the health and wellbeing of our people as a fundamental role of any business. Here at Tsurumi we offer a variety of benefits aimed at caring for our colleagues in order to provide a happy stable environment to work in every day. Some examples are listed below of our workplace initiatives:

Heart of Kent Hospice

We started supporting HOKH at the start of 2024.

Heart of Kent Hospice believes that everyone deserves compassionate, specialist care when there is no cure for their illness and when they have a limited time left to live.

To raise money and support Heart of Kent Hospice, we are taking part in a half marathon in Kent in October 2024.

We also operate a 50/50 club draw, whereby staff pay a monthly fee, with 50% of the proceeds donated to HOKH at the end of the year.

U14's Football Sponsors

We have been sponsoring our local U14's Boy's Football team, Castle Colt Wanderers, since 2021. We provided their football and training kits, as well as their sub's bench.

Food Bank Donations

We donate to a food bank a few times a year, which is situated in our local children's centre. Everyday items are contributed, such as toiletries, household items, baby supplies and feminine products.

Grow 19

We teamed up with Grow19, a college for learners aged 19-25 with SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) on a work experience placement, assisting us with jobs in the warehouse.

Giving Tree

KidsOut works to donate toys to children in refuge across the UK over the Christmas period. The recipents are children who have escaped domestic violence, have been forced to flee their homes quickly and leave all posessions behind. Since 2021, Tsurumi have been able to give gifts to 69 children in refuge.

GIVING BACK TO OUR EMPLOYEES

Wellness Weeks

Tsurumi participates in annual initiatives such as World Wellbeing Week and Happiness at Work Week, that aim to contribute to worklife satisfaction and communication with colleagues.

Accredited Living Wage Employer

The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate that is voluntarily paid by over 10,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs.

Tsurumi have been accredited by the Living Wage Foundation since 2021 and are proud to be a Living Wage Employer.

NHS Health Checks

Tsurumi organise a visit for a health check-up for adults aged 40 to 74. It's designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia.

Once the check is complete, they provide advice on how to lower these risks, whilst also maintaining and improving health.

Mental Health Training

10% of Tsurumi's employees are Mental Health First Aid Trained. During this training, colleagues learnt how to respond effectively to situations that they might face at work, how to spot the signs and respond to the mental and physical health needs of a person experiencing a mental health issue.
